I am going to Las Vegas, don’t wreck my restaurant
I have had some personal ups and downs since opening The Flying Banzini and I am now trying to focus a lot more of my time on the restaurant. I will be forever grateful to my business partner Raelene and to my General Manager Raye Ann (as well as all the staff — including Sous Chef Dan) for throwing themselves into the breach when I needed them the most.
I am now back to focusing on the restaurant with all my energy. My work schedule currently consists of working on the restaurant from 7 AM to 11:30 AM 7 days a week (admin, blogs, online ordering, or whatever needs doing). I am in the restaurant for lunch service 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM 7 days a week, then I return for supper service from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM 6 days a week (I take Tuesday night’s off). This schedule is sometimes interrupted by parenting duties – one of my sons is a Speed Skater and the other is a Fencer. I split parenting duties with their mom so my schedule week to week sort of changes.
So after finally getting refocused on the restaurant what am I doing? This weekend I am going to Las Vegas! It’s the Las Vegas Marathon. I have attended this marathon for the last 6 years. I used to run in it but have had hip surgery and I am not allowed to run anymore. So… now it’s all about dining and martinis.
Don’t wreck my restaurant while I am gone.
The problem with Vegas is that no matter how many nights you go for… it’s always one night too many.
I am in the restaurant for lunch and supper today and then will be back on Wednesday.
Have a well-deserved vacation!
Stopped in earlier tonight (Monday) for the first time and absolutely enjoyed every fine detail of your restaurant. Comfortable, casual, reasonable, totally delish, and even the cutlery, dishes, and napkins are of superior quality. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and able to guide us in making our choices. The service was on point. Background music was perfect, the décor lovely, and the “Wisdom” delightfully entertaining. Congrats on creating a very positive eatery experience. We’ll be back soon. All was in exceptional order - your restaurant has not been wrecked.
P.S. your cheesecake, we only tried six flavours, was truly the best in Ottawa. Maybe the best anywhere? Probably. Favourites in descending order: New York Chocolate; Lemon Meringue; Black Cherry (with a hint of orange); Chocolate Raspberry;… okay, all of them.
