Slight change to hours and to takeout ordering.
I have slightly tweaked the hours. The kitchen will now close one hour earlier than it has been. Looking at sales, we get a fair number of people in a little later in the evening for cheesecake and a glass of wine. We do not get very many in later on for a meal. I think this is because we are not fine dining — we are a sandwich and pizza joint, ultimately. This will enable to to save about three hours of labor every night for a savings of about 21 hours per week. Not insubstantial. And, only a very small number of my customers will be affected.
And, like all things, still a work in progress. If September comes along and I find there is demand then we will make them a little longer again.
Also, I have suspended online ordering. Although convenient for my customers, it has always had problems and it is a difficult thing to maintain (tech wise) for a small operation like us. We do get about 50% of our take out orders from online but I expect that these customers will phone. I hope so. Take out is always a worry to me as if we get something wrong we have no way to make it right. Online has always been more fraught with problems than the phone and our volume of orders is not so big that we will not be able to manage on the phone. So, please, phone with your order or come in and order in person and drink wine while you wait.
