Back from Vegas (hated it)… on the top of my list to get done.
Three nights in Vegas (planned months ago, long before the restaurant opened). I think that Vegas is dead to me. I have been a lot. In a past life I was the founding editor of Canadian Poker Player Magazine as well as Canadian Poker Monthly. I am the creator of the Canadian Poker Tour and the one time Canadian Poker Champion. I am the author of “Winning at Poker: Essential Hints and Tips.” So… I have been to Vegas a lot. But, this is all in my past and I do not play poker anymore. I am thinking that my next “all guy weekend” should be to someplace different like, maybe, to Denver for a Major League Baseball game and NFL game. It would be of much more interest to me to see a new city as opposed to go back to Vegas which I have seen over and over.
So… back to work, which is good.
No trips anywhere are planned anytime soon. Although I am resolving to make one minor change in my life and that is to spend one weekend per month on some sort of an adventure – visiting out of town friends, trying a new activity, visiting a new city, or whatever. Too often, I think, we put things off, waiting until we have more time. I don’t want to do this anymore. I want to get on with the bucket list now, so I am going to make time.
Top priorities at the restaurant?
Online ordering. This is basically complete and it is functional. All that remains is a couple of slight tweaks and an overhaul of the appearance of the online ordering part of the site. Basically, the way online ordering works is that from FlyingBanzini you click the link and are taken to a parallel site from which you order and pay. The parallel site is complete but it is not branded as our own so we need to get the appearance fixed. It is also suggested that online ordering not go live on a Friday as support is not available on a Saturday/Sunday. So… I am shooting for online ordering to go live on Monday. This will allow our customers to place an order with a specific time for pickup.
Website maintenance. The site needs updating to reflect some of the subtle changes that have been made in the restaurant. There is no mention, for instance, of our roast chicken in the meats section.
Spending more time on site. Having been away for 4 days feels like an eternity. I am back looking forward to serving customers again. I like it.
