A Google Street View Anomaly

The picture above is Google Street view from July 8. This is the view from more or less right in front of 1242 Wellington Street West. Of note is that it is at least three (or four) years since the Google Camera Car passed by as this is before Collected Works expanded to take over the other half of the building (which is now occupied by Bytown News and Toy Soldier Market — a very cool store with a very gracious owner, by the way).

Here is another view …

From the same spot in Google Maps. As you can see, it’s still “Mostly Danish Furniture.” Which always seemed, to me, to be mostly Chinese furniture whenever I was in the store.

Next I slid the little Google Dude a few feet to the west on Google Street View and now look!

Waaaaa happened?

Now Collected Works is on both sides of the building, Danish is gone, and Fab Baby Gear has arrived.

Weird that it would update differently just a few meters different in reality.

I like how the sidewalk switches from pavement to brick.

Good eye. It was switched about three years ago, too.
